Hot off their big announcement at the PRSA Conference Cision is once again making news announcing that it has acquired its London-based rival, Gorkana Group.Blog 65 Gorkana logo

Gorkana’s flagship software is designed to help companies track the impact of media coverage on the success of their brands, particularly in the financial services sector. The Gorkana Media Database supplies PR professionals with detailed information on the B2B and financial media in the U.S., with additional subscriptions available for UK and Europe. Combining features from both companies’ products and customers is expected to give Cision access to more international markets.

After the Vocus merger, Cision also acquired Visible, a Bellevue, Wa.-based social media monitoring company. Cision now has about 2,000 employees, distributed throughout offices in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Finland and China.

Existing Gorkana customers will reportedly not see major changes in their software. Eventually, Cision plans to add features picked from other products in its portfolio, whether from Vocus, Visible, or the original Cision. It will be interesting to watch further tool news in this space.
