PRToolfinder.com Database Updates Reflect Market Changes and Trends
As the PR Profession Continues to Transform, so too do the Tools they Use
September 15, 2021 – Menlo Park, CA PRtoolfinder.com, the only online database dedicated to organizing tools created specifically for or commonly used by Public Relations professionals has released the results of the semi-annual database update. As the PR industry continues to transform, so do the tools that serve the market. This release focuses on changes made to categories from Article Marketing through Market Research.
Article Marketing: Two tools have been deleted from this category – Article Sphere, a free article directory service that allowed writers/authors to submit articles for publishers to reprint and syndicate via RSS feeds, free of charge, on their own websites, blogs and ezines, and Buzzle an online resource for authors and content creators to freely share original articles.
Awards Programs: Catchpole website under construction. No further info on this but as one of the last remaining awards directories, the Catchpole awards database contains key actionable data on award topics, deadlines, judging factors, and nominating processes. Look for an update on this after further research is conducted as to their status.
Blogging Tools: Blog Studio has been removed from the Blog creation tools category as it is no longer in business, and others like LiveJournal have updated links.
Blogger Lists category becomes “LinkBuilding & Influencer Marketing Tools”: Instead of eliminating the Blogger list category when BlogDash closed, we changed it to reflect the market shift to LinkBuilding and Influencer Marketing. BlogDash was a media database built with the purpose of helping the media relations industry reach targets beyond traditional media outlets. Through BlogDash, bloggers chose what kind of pitches they were interested in, while brands and companies could connect with the right bloggers for their projects or campaigns. All of the leading media contact databases now include blogs, making it easy to identify relevant blog properties for traditional pitching, but new tools emerge. New to this category are:
- BuzzStream – Software for LinkBuilding
- BuzzSumo - The world’s largest bank of social engagement data.
- Respona - The all-in-one digital PR and link building software
- Ninjaoutreach – All in one Influencer Marketing Platform
- Julius - Connects influencers with leading brands
- OutreachZ - Platform to Build Authority Backlinks
Content Marketing: This category had few changes aside from correcting links resulting from having been acquired.
Editorial Calendars & Journalist Networks: JournoRequests (UK Media) was discontinued and incorporated into a new UK-based media suite that delivers immediate access to high quality, targeted and curated requests, which are sent directly to your inbox from journalists and broadcasters at leading national, regional and trade outlets. The new Response Source service includes a media database, journalist inquiries direct to your inbox from top media outlets and a fast, effective press release distribution service that sends your news to UK media outlets and journalists. Check them out at https://www.responsesource.com/. West Corp (formerly Nasdaq and MyEdcals) has been removed from the database because it was acquired by Intrado and incorporated into new products under the Intrado brand.
Market Research: The tool “Compete” apparently got out competed and is no longer in business so has been deleted from the database. Hoovers, acquired by Dun & Bradstreet has an updated URL, and the PIMS Database of Strategic Planning also has an updated URL although it has not been acquired. The consulting arm of the Strategic Planning Institute, the PIMS (Profit Impact of Market Strategy) Program offers an online, fee-based access to selected high interest strategic applications. PIMS® is used to develop strategies for resource allocation and marketing. These include: Return on Investment Report – what level of profitability is “expected” for comparable businesses; Market Share Change Report – what level of share gain/loss is “expected” for comparable businesses; Marketing Budget Report – what level of marketing expenses is “expected” for comparable businesses; Market Attractiveness/Competitive Strength Report – how attractive is the market/competitive position of comparable businesses.
