From PodPitch to Magic Pitch: A New Twist on AI Powered PR Outreach

The image is a graphic showing each of Magic Pitchs elements: Podpitch, Journalist Pitch, Newsletter Pitch, WebPitch and Pitch Anyone

I first added PodPitch to PRToolFinder in 2024; it was truly a ground breaking innovation and quickly became a popular tool.  In that post I write, “It’s worth noting that PodPitch is currently the only PR tool for podcasts in the world that allows PR professionals to type in a few words (for example, “podcasts who talk about Florida real estate”) and set up a campaign to automatically write and send personalized pitches and photos to them every single day!”

I was clearly impressed.

PodPitch is still around and still has its own listing in PRToolFinder. But it has now become part of something much bigger: Magic Pitch.

This isn’t just about pitching the media

Most PR professionals naturally think of pitching as finding a journalist, podcast host or newsletter publisher and trying to get a client in front of them.

Magic Pitch does all of that.

But Web Pitch is an interesting twist. It starts with a pixel on your website that allows you to identify individuals visiting your site.   So instead of beginning with a database of people you hope might be interested, you can begin with someone who has already visited your website.

Could be an editor – but it also could be a prospective client!  Having a new business development element in a PR outreach suite is not something I’ve seen before but seems like a great value-add for agency owners and PR consultants who often push new business development activities down on the priority list.

For an agency, A Web Pitch signal could mean a prospective client who has been looking around your services page. For a consultant, it might be an organization that has shown enough interest to visit your site but hasn’t contacted you. You can then use the platform to identify the visitor, determine whether they’re a fit and create a targeted outreach campaign.

That’s a very different use of the same basic outreach infrastructure.

And frankly, that’s a part I found really interesting, and required a bit more explanation.

One platform, several types of Outreach

Magic Pitch grew out of PodPitch, but the idea has expanded well beyond podcast pitching.

The suite now includes:

  • PodPitch — podcast discovery and pitching
  • Journalist Pitch — outreach to traditional media
  • Newsletter Pitch — outreach to newsletter publishers
  • Web Pitch — website visitor identification and outreach

There is also Pitch Anyone, which extends the outreach capability beyond the specific media databases.

So, while PodPitch has its own history and remains a standalone tool in PRToolFinder, it is now part of a broader Magic Pitch subscription.

For a PR agency working across multiple clients, that can mean having one system for finding media opportunities, pitching podcasts and newsletters, and following up with prospective business-development leads.

And that’s where I think Magic Pitch gets interesting

There are plenty of PR tools that help you find media contacts.

There are also plenty of sales tools that help you find prospects.

What’s interesting about Magic Pitch is the overlap.

The same outreach technology can be used for both.

Magic Pitch brings PodPitch together with Journalist Pitch, Newsletter Pitch and a newer capability called Web Pitch.

WebPitch doesn’t mean a PR person suddenly needs to become a salesperson. But agency owners and consultants know that business development is part of running a practice, and finding a warm prospect is usually a lot more appealing than sending another cold email into the void.

A person who has already visited your website is at least giving you a signal.

What you do with that signal is up to you.

And that’s where I think Web Pitch adds a genuinely different dimension to a platform that started with podcast pitching.

You can still use Magic Pitch to pitch the media. But now you can also use it to identify people who may be interested in hiring you.

That’s a pretty interesting evolution from where PodPitch started.
