When Dazzle first launched last Fall, it changed the game for PR pros by introducing an AI-powered, chat-based approach to media research. Already the Dazzle team is treating us to a new and improved Dazzle 2.0 just in time for Spring promotions by rolling out some powerful new features designed to make media targeting even smarter, faster and more precise.
Smarter, More Flexible Search
I was researching targets for a very niche company last week and so got to field test the new features and Dazzle’s search capabilities have definitely leveled up! Whether you’re looking for journalists, outlets, journalists at specific outlets, or even podcasts, the search function now allows you to refine results more effectively. Simply describe your story in a few words and, if needed, filter by location or timeline to narrow your focus. This means less time sifting through irrelevant results and more time crafting the perfect pitch.
More Relevant, Actionable Results
Finding the right journalists has never been easier—or more actionable. Dazzle now delivers up to 100 highly relevant contacts per search, and with just one click, you can:
- Add contacts to a new or existing media list
- View contact details
- Search for similar journalists
- Access summaries or full articles right from your results list
Key Article Insights at a Glance
It’s important to do our homework before pitching but having to read numerous articles can really chew up time. Dazzle has made this much easier: each featured article in your search results now includes three key takeaways, providing useful insights into article themes, keywords, and coverage areas. It’s quite a timesaver.
Thorough Journalist Profiles
Likewise, knowing who you’re pitching is essential. Now, journalist profiles have been expanded to include bios, recent articles, and contact details directly accessible from your search results or media list. This allows you to craft pitches that are more personalized and impactful. Returning to the niche client I mentioned above, I observed that Dazzle didn’t always return 100% of journalist contact info, but it surfaced targets I might not have discovered elsewhere making it easy for me to continue research and perhaps create a valuable new journalist relationship.
The Original ‘Chat to Dazz’ Option Remains
I’d gotten used to the chat feature and I’m happy to report that it’s still here! This gives you the choice of using the new search functionalities or stick with the interactive chat-based approach—whichever works best with your specific workflow.
Faster, More Powerful PR Workflow
List building has always been both time-consuming and tedious yet so important to media relations success. The new Dazzle features meant I could build high-quality, focused media lists in minutes, eliminating hours of manual research which allowed me to get to developing my pitch angle/s that much sooner.
Why These Updates Matter for PR Pros
The PR landscape is evolving fast, and relevance is everything. Journalists get overwhelmed with pitches—unfortunately many of them off-target. These new features help PR pros and media teams cut through the noise and ensure they’re reaching out to the right people with the right stories. Dazzle continues to make it easier for PR pros through their AI-driven insights and search process to build strong media relationships without the heavy lift. The actual building of those relationships is still on us, the PR Pros!
If you haven’t had a chance to explore Dazzle yet, now it’s even more effective. And if you’ve been wondering how Dazzle stacks up against ChatGPT and Perplexity you can read their interesting test results here.
